Scrapbook Design & You

This scrapbook series  of ten classes, was created to provide beginner through advanced scrapbookers the best possible foundation for creating harmonious, balanced and well-designed scrapbook layouts. 

Price:  $13 per class ($5 for the binder) -- or $100 for the entire series (includes FREE Binder)

The curriculum of SDU® starts at the very beginning! In classes one through five, you will learn about the emotional value of scrapbooking along with the basics on how to plan and prepare for a scrapbook project. These theory classes present the foundation for beginners while exposing advanced students to view scrapbooking in a whole new light.

Class #1 -- The Basics

What is scrapbooking? Why should I scrapbook? How do I get started? This inspirational class answers all your questions on the hobby of scrapbooking.  This class will orient the beginner to the importance of scrapbooking.  You will learn the how's and why's, terminology -- and discover how The Cropper's Corner is designed to help you find what you are looking for.

Class #2 -- Tools of the Trade

There are many tools that will assist you in creating stunning scrapbook pages.  Which tools are the most important? How are these tools used? The proper use and benefits of craft tools are discussed and demonstrated in depth.  Join The Cropper's Corner, as we show you the ins-and-outs, and pros and cons to a great variety of scrapbook tools.

Class #3 -- Journaling

Pictures can't tell their own story -- that's why we journal!  This class will introduce you to the writing basics of journaling, and help you complete your pages with the story you want to share.

Class #4 -- Color Theory

A working knowledge of color is a must for every scrapbooker.  The concept of color theory is visually explored in detail. Learning about color's relationship to scrapbooking will empower you to use color in new and exciting ways.
 

Class #5 -- Layout and Design

In this class, you will learn that photographs, journaling, titles, enhancements, color, line, lettering and shape are the building blocks of scrapbook design.  You will learn how and when to use these elements to create great pages.  You will also learn principles of design structure to give you the tools to create dynamic layouts every time. Discover how photographs, journaling, titling, enhancements, lettering, shape and color work together for great pages.

Technique Classes

Now that the framework of theory is in place, we can build on our scrapbook structure with a series of dynamic hands-on technique classes. All of the class materials are provided... plus space is allowed in each chapter for project assembly and reference.

Class #6 -- Matting

Matting is one of the most spectacular techniques for making photos stand out on your scrapbook page.  Enhancing a photo with a mat adds interest and excitement to the image.  In this class, you will learn many ways to mat a photo in order to create a well-designed layout.  Create up to 7 projects for your binder.
 

Class #7 -- Stickers

In this class, you will learn sticker techniques that will inspire you to use those stickers you've been hoarding. Learn the nuances of sticker art - from cutting and trimming to layering or adding dimension.  Learn to create fantastic elements for your scrapbook pages that will have you looking at your sticker collection in a whole new way.  Create over 10 sticker projects in this class.

Class #8 -- Creative Lettering

Lettering on your scrapbook pages should be fun.  In this class, you will be introduced to some simple lettering techniques that will help you relax and enjoy writing in your scrapbooks.  Have fun practicing with a range of different pen tips.
 

Class #9 -- Titles

The title is a critical element in layout design and can be perceived by the reader in many ways simultaneously.  Learn how to design spectacular titles that will make amazing presentations on your scrapbook pages.  This class features up to 6 title examples.
 

Class #10 -- Punches

Punches are exciting tools that cut shapes from paper.  In this class, you will learn how to maintain your punches, adhere punched pieces, build shapes into images, and create punch scenes.  Use punches in ways you never imagined... create over a half dozen punch scenes, punched borders and other punch shapes in this class.
